Fortress FX-7 Complete Anchoring System - FX-7-AS

This review is difficult. I want to be clear that as far as Anchor Express is concerned this should be 5-Stars. Their pricing was excellent and their delivery was immediate. I have absolutely no complaints and nothing but praise for them. My issued are with the product, and again this is complicated. The assembled anchor is a 5-Star product. I had the exact anchor for a decade, was absolutely thrilled with it, just lost it to a reef and replaced it (again because it is an excellent product). However I have 2 complaints about the "kit", which is why my rating is 3 instead of 5 stars. First, the assembly design is both genius and painstaking. I cannot for the life of me figure out why they use flat head screws (as opposed to phillips or a ratchet system) and why they do not employ locking nuts or even washers. Second, the rope is too thin (should be at least 1/2 if not 3/4"), the chain is light weight aluminum (also too thin and dainty) and as it is prestitched together I chose to add 6" of thicker and heavier stainless steel chain to the end of the flimsy aluminum chain. So, in sum, the middle man (Anchor Express) is reliable, reasonable and responsible and while i would replace the anchor with the same one again I would not buy the kit. That's my $0.02.
