While, yes, I am disappointed that the original product only lasted five years, and yes I am disappointed that the point of failure is five-cent part (the bearing), this replacement unit is easy to install (once you've climbed your mast to retrieve the broken unit), and it fits perfectly. The installations is simple. Remove the failed pod by extracting the retaining screw and rotating the entire pod counter-clockwise a fraction. Pull out the pod. The new pod comes disassembled like in the picture. Slide it into transmitter unit, turn to lock, and replace the retaining screw. Test the unit by turning on the receive and spinning the anemometer a few times. Assuming that the the transmitter and receiver are communicating proceed to installing the cups by sliding them into position. Secure them with the retaining cap. Now climb back to the top of your mast to reinstall the unit at the end of its wand. Celebrate. At least that was fairly easy.
